Jok Maduh D’Kenang –
A New Eco-Tourism Destination in Sungai Siput
Introduction
Jok Maduh D’Kenang is a community-based eco-tourism initiative developed by the Orang Asli community of Kampung Kenang under the project “Community Empowerment to Improve Livelihoods through Eco-Tourism and Food Security.” Kampung Kenang is located in Jalong Tinggi, Sungai Siput, Perak, and is home to the Temiar Orang Asli community, one of the indigenous Senoi ethnic groups in Peninsular Malaysia.
This initiative aims to enhance the community’s socio-economic well-being through sustainable tourism while preserving the environment and local cultural heritage. The project is implemented by the Global Environment Centre (GEC) with support from Yayasan Hasanah and the Ministry of Finance Malaysia, in strategic collaboration with the Department of Orang Asli Development (JAKOA) Perak and the Perak Department of Irrigation and Drainage.
